Following the Cooperation Agreement signed with Fujian Normal University in China in May 2018, the first group of Chinese students at Fujian Normal University were invited to participate in the summer school programme specially tailored to Chinese students in the summer of 2018 in order to promote the students and research staff exchange and to strengthen mutual academic relations.

 

The Summer school was hosted by the Centre of Pragmatics Research between 5th July and 5th August 2018. The opening reception was hosted by the Centre for Pragmatic Studies at the Research Institute for Linguistics. Director of the Institute Professor, Gábor Prószéky, gave an opening speech. Deputy Director Prof. Huba Bartos, CPR director, Professor Dániel Zoltán Kádár were all present at the ceremony, as well as other staff at the Institute and students from Fujian Normal University.

 

The summer school programme covered the themes of English and Chinese comparative linguistics, language and culture, sociolinguistics, intercultural communication in forms of lectures, workshops, and other cultural activities. We invited linguists and researchers from Hungary, Germany, Slovenia to deliver their cutting edge research experience.
